Eco Sponges – Live Green, Healthy and Sustainable!

The regular sponges you can get just about anywhere may be cheap, but they’re not the best choices if you’re making an effort to switch to a zero-waste lifestyle. They’re made of non-biodegradable plastic that ends up getting dumped in landfill, or worse, in the ocean. We are far better off using eco sponges that are made of biodegradable materials such as organic cotton and cellulose. Eco sponges use renewable, natural materials to help minimise waste, and in turn, our impact on the environment.
There are many different kinds of eco sponges these days, so it should be easy to find specific products to suit your cleaning needs, whether for the kitchen or general cleaning purposes. Switching to these products lets you do your part in reducing waste.
They serve their purpose well and can be better in terms of performance and quality. Some eco sponges are heavy-duty and highly durable, with quick drying, foaming, and flexible properties because of their cellulose core, and a linen-blend top to scrub more effectively!
The lifespan of some eco sponges is just as long as conventional plastic sponges. In fact, they can be machine washed between uses to last even longer. But unlike plastic sponges that don’t decompose, eco sponges are made of natural and renewable materials that will simply break down towards their end of life.
Eco sponges are compostable, too. This makes disposal more convenient and easier, as they are biodegradable when they reach the end of their life. Eco sponges are so much better for the environment overall and they are such a simple switch to make!
When you’re ready to make the switch to an eco sponge, consider buying from a reputable and established online zero waste store. That way, you can be sure that you are getting high-quality and genuine products that are proven to reduce our impact on the environment! Just like the ones we have here at Friendly Turtle :)
